Your account

User story

As a registered member, I want to find and navigate my personal profile and account settings from any of my workspaces so I can manage my account without losing my place.

Draft requirements for review · Updated 2026-10-19

What the app should do

  • Make My Backcountry the activity area and Profile & settings the shared personal account destination for every authenticated role, including free Members. Show a consistent link in the account/workspace menu without changing the selected Home or creating another account.
  • Use persistent navigation and separate addresses for Your profile, Interests & preferences, Notifications, Membership, Payments & purchases, Sign-in & security and Privacy. Group payment methods, Shop purchases/receipts, membership billing and delivery addresses beneath Payments & purchases.
  • Support current-section indication, browser Back/reload/deep links, accessible focus/keyboard operation and a compact mobile navigation. Preserve old profile/edit/notification/security links.
  • Link existing available functions and label planned destinations honestly. A planned payment section never displays invented saved cards, transactions, invoices or renewals.
  • Keep Professional profile editing and named-organization management accessible in their proper context. A personal settings page never grants organization financial/team authority, staff access or paid entitlement.

What to check in the demo

Follow these steps from the role’s landing page through navigation and feature checks.

Review asStart here: Home

Begin on this account’s permitted Home. For a local review use Sign in → Try a demo account → Alex Morgan → Free Member Home. Settings belong to this same personal account; keep Professional/organization/staff authority separate.

Navigation from sign-in

  1. 01Open the fictional Registered user account through the connected sign-in service. Seeded Home review opens directly. Real HOL staff access and protected actions require an authenticator check.
  2. 02Begin at this role’s Home, open its account/workspace menu, then Profile & settings when that navigation is delivered. Follow the section named in the checks; stop if a planned destination is unavailable.

Find my profile and account settings

Shared Profile & settings navigation is available in dev and connected staging. Live checks covered Casey’s personal editor and Liam’s own editor from an organization workspace; returning Home preserved the selected context. All twelve scenario Homes passed entry, refresh and sign-out. Later settings sections remain planned; full-story status stays In progress.

  1. 03From the role Home open the account/workspace menu. When the new Profile & settings entry is available, open it and select Your profile; until then the new navigation is unavailable.
  2. 04Move among available sections; verify the selected section, address, Back/reload and keyboard/mobile navigation. Planned sections clearly explain their state.
  3. 05Return to My Backcountry and the original permitted workspace; confirm the same identity, saved Home and permissions.

Backend work for this feature

Backend development authorized · Dev only

What needs to be supported

  • Reuse genuine account identity, current profile and eligible workspace reads. Navigation keys are not authorization. No navigation-only schema or duplicate account is required.
  • Personal settings enforce current-owner access; missing/revoked context uses a safe destination without leaking data. Preserve original same-account auth/join intent and staff MFA boundaries.
  • D001/D089 own profile updates; later financial/notification/privacy stories remain planned. No new billing, address/order schema, storage, provider or delivery channel for this slice.

How to verify in dev

  1. Verify signed-out, free/paid and overlapping Professional/org/staff contexts; no URL/context flag grants authority.
  2. Verify legacy links, actual selected preference/no-choice public Home and same-account return remain correct.

Before this can work

  • Use an existing fictional account; keep its current role/entitlement and selected Home. No profile/preference reset is required to review requirements.
  • Dev only. No real card/address/recipient data, provider setup, outbound delivery or publication is part of this review.
