Member screens use the language of the intended product. These notes explain what runs behind those screens and which decisions remain open.
Session behavior
Profile preferences, saves, follows, moderated contributions, reservations, membership selections and Shop orders use shared demo state. No real account, entitlement, charge, renewal, gift card, shipment, registration, message or email is created. Newsletter and contact forms stay local; Supabase and Resend are not connected.
While on a brief page, open Notifications in the header to generate example updates. Follow or join each source first and enable its preference. The toast, drawer, read state and destination work across the member experience; no push or email is sent.
Content + trust
Stories, gallery photography, people, professional credentials, events and moderation outcomes are seeded or illustrative. The archive contains fictional articles; no historical editorial catalog has been migrated. Guide verification and editorial review are demonstrated states, not completed real-world checks.
Search uses a curated local index and Home responds to explicit preferences. The map is a discovery basemap; a Whympr integration remains a proposal. Field plans and guide sessions provide no live conditions, navigation, route recommendations or individualized safety advice. Exact member location is not collected.
Commerce decisions
Print subscriptions and gifts use current US offers from Backcountry’s subscription page. Product images, representative issues, goods and gift-card amounts come from HOL’s store and its gift-card listing, checked October 7–8, 2026. Inventory, issue variants, tax and shipping are not synced.
Connected digital memberships, combined plans and connected gifts are proposals. Prices, terms, edition entitlements, renewal and recipient redemption require HOL decisions; member screens label them Coming soon. Store gift cards remain separate from gift subscriptions, and membership redemption is unresolved. The existing digital-edition app is a separate product.
