User story
As a paid member, I want to discover a place through connected content and people so I can understand what Backcountry knows about a region.
Draft requirements for review · Updated 2026-10-19
What the app should do
- Load public places/regions and their published stories, people, organizations and events from canonical backend records and associations. No live safety or location inference is added.
- Gather the place’s stories, experts, groups and events into a native place hub.
- Show the connection between the named place and each result.
- Provide useful routes to those content, people and event destinations.
- Keep public discovery separate from account actions such as following or reservation.
- Include approved public organizations relevant to a place through a public business location or broad service region, and link to their canonical profiles. A listed outfitter or tour company is not automatically a sponsor or a booking service.
What to check in the demo
Follow these steps from the role’s landing page through navigation and feature checks.
Begin on the paid Member Home. Use the Paid member demo role or Casey Bennett in Try a demo account, then select Member in the account/workspace menu if necessary. This creates a genuine local session with a seeded no-charge test membership; it does not upgrade a different account.
Navigation from sign-in
- 01Open the fictional Paid member account through the connected sign-in service. Seeded Home review opens directly. Real HOL staff access and protected actions require an authenticator check.
- 02Begin at the selected role Home, then use footer Explore → Places.
- 03Open Mount Mansfield using its canonical dev destination.
Feature checks start here
Mount Mansfield place connections
Public-content reads are available for dev review; full story acceptance and stakeholder approval remain separate. Current public pages and supported account links are connected in dev. Only the visible workflow described here is available; credentials, privacy edge cases and unrelated editorial/operator workflows require separate acceptance and remain incomplete.
- 04From Explore inspect Mount Mansfield and its People & organizations links; open a person or organization and use its place link to return.
- 05Open the public trip report or field lesson and the member event from the place panel. Public identity pages remain readable while individual paid content keeps its own gate.
- 06Use only broad business/service areas. Withdrawal, unpublished associations, entitlement and privacy edge cases need dedicated setup; do not assume a removed fixture is present in the directory.
Backend work for this feature
Backend development authorized · Dev only
What needs to be supported
- Selected authorization is the public read/content-seeding slice only. Existing write, participation, editorial management, event operations, gift redemption, payment and delivery requirements below are separate later work unless already authorized elsewhere.
- Load public places/regions and their published stories, people, organizations and events from canonical backend records and associations. No live safety or location inference is added.
- Add approved organization–place business-location/service-area relations to the place hub, separate from opted-in member geographic presence; do not expose personal exact location or private business contacts.
How to verify in dev
- Verify published-only anonymous projection, no private/protected payload, stable IDs and links, missing/unpublished records, empty/loading/error UI, and no silent static fallback. Idempotent seed rerun preserves edited records; authenticated/dummy Home entry remains unchanged.
- Browse a public place hub and follow its related people/work/event links; private/member data must not appear.
- Verify an unpublished organization or withdrawn service-area relationship disappears from public place results and that one organization can serve several broad places.
Before this can work
- Begin on the paid Member Home. Use the Paid member demo role or Casey Bennett in Try a demo account, then select Member in the account/workspace menu if necessary. This creates a genuine local session with a seeded no-charge test membership; it does not upgrade a different account.
- A seeded place with associated stories, people, groups and events.
- Public-view and participation boundaries for those destinations.
No prerequisite story has been confirmed. The setup above describes the content or decisions needed.
