User story

As a visitor, I want to see membership benefits and plans before creating an account so I can decide whether to become a paid member.

What the app should do

  • Persist existing plan/benefit/offer facts, currency/amount/term where known, eligibility and current/proposed labels. Preserve exact selected plan through existing real signup/upgrade; no invented pricing, trial or live charge.
  • Use one Backcountry membership-selection flow from Subscribe and Shop → Memberships.
  • Explain the title-specific options, access, term and renewal behavior.
  • Distinguish current print offers from proposed connected products; unknown prices stay unset.
  • Allow a simulated selection and completion without creating a charge or live entitlement.
  • Membership settings link to the shared existing plan/access flows on the same account. Display only trusted current plan/access facts; bills/receipts and renewal history belong to planned D110, payment methods to D107. A no-charge test entitlement is not a bill or renewal schedule.

Membership selection

Public-content reads are available for dev review; full story acceptance and stakeholder approval remain separate. Follow the navigation and review what is available; some feature steps remain incomplete.

  1. 03Compare Available print subscriptions with Proposed connected memberships. Connected digital and Print + connected digital are distinct from print-only offers.
  2. 04Choose a connected plan and Continue with [selected plan]. A Visitor reaches account creation/sign-in; an already verified free account continues with the same identity.
  3. 05At Continue to checkout review proceed to pending, then use the explicitly labeled Local payment test outcomes · no charge controls. This changes a local test entitlement and makes no real charge.
  4. 06After Confirm successful test payment choose Continue to Backcountry and inspect the original destination. Use failure/cancellation checks on separate attempts. Renewal and changing an existing paid plan remain incomplete.

What needs to be supported

How to verify in dev

  1. Verify published-only anonymous projection, no private/protected payload, stable IDs and links, missing/unpublished records, empty/loading/error UI, and no silent static fallback. Idempotent seed rerun preserves edited records; authenticated/dummy Home entry remains unchanged.
  2. Review public plan facts and choose the existing no-charge connected joining path; selection alone must not grant membership.
