Manage the Backcountry goods catalog

Review as Commercial manager · Full workflow planned

User story

As a commercial manager, I want to prepare accurate goods listings within an assigned store responsibility so shoppers can review the right products and terms.

Draft requirements for review · Updated 2026-10-19

What the app should do

  • Prepare a draft product listing with SKU, title, description, images, variants, availability and price/currency from approved business data.
  • Preview and validate listing changes before an authorized operator makes them visible in D048; preserve the last approved version until publication succeeds.
  • Separate goods and one-time goods gift certificates from membership plans, entitlements and membership gifts.
  • Retire a listing reversibly without rewriting historical order details; make out-of-stock/unavailable state understandable.
  • Store-operating ownership and pricing/publication authority remain an HOL decision. Commercial manager is a proposed review perspective, not an automatic grant.

What to check in the demo

Follow these steps from the role’s landing page through navigation and feature checks.

Review as

Commercial manager

Start here: Home

Choose the Avery Chen dummy account and open its assigned Commercial manager Home without a password or authenticator prompt. This dev-only Home review does not verify MFA or unlock protected staff actions. Use your own provisioned staff account and authenticator when reviewing those actions.

Navigation from sign-in

  1. 01Open the fictional Commercial manager account through the connected sign-in service. Seeded Home review opens directly. Real HOL staff access and protected actions require an authenticator check.
  2. 02Start on Commercial manager Home and open Features + permissions. No catalog-management workspace exists yet; Shop is a shopper screen, not the operator tool.

Manage the Backcountry goods catalog · Full workflow planned

Planned full workflow. Existing workspace samples, where present, demonstrate only isolated controls. Backend implementation is on hold; no completed end-to-end outcome or stakeholder approval is claimed.

  1. 03Current UI review: follow the navigation as far as the explicitly available screen; the complete feature below is not built. Stop when the named control is absent.
  2. 04Planned acceptance — Review the Catalog management requirements; do not count editing a cart as catalog management.
  3. 05Planned acceptance — Once ownership and UI are defined, prepare a fictional draft product, validate required fields and preview its shopper listing.
  4. 06Planned acceptance — Publish an authorized revision, change availability and compare the same SKU in Shop.
  5. 07Planned acceptance — Retire a sample listing and verify that existing order snapshots remain unchanged.

Backend work for this feature

Requirements only · Backend implementation on hold

What needs to be supported

  • Persist product/SKU/variant records and versioned catalog changes; maintain approved prices/currency, availability and public-versus-draft state.
  • Enforce an explicitly assigned store capability, not a general Commercial manager label; server-validate price, availability, media ownership and publication.
  • Bind each order to its accepted product/price snapshot; later catalog edits cannot alter past order totals or items.
  • Handle concurrent edits, unavailable variants, duplicate SKU creation and failed publication atomically with actor/time/reason history. Do not enable live inventory, tax or payment services here.

How to verify when implementation is approved

  1. With an approved synthetic store assignment, test draft edit/publish; an ordinary commercial account and shopper must be denied operator writes.
  2. Race price/availability changes with checkout review; verify the agreed conflict/reconfirmation behavior and preserved historical order data.
  3. Repeat publication and retire a listing; verify one current catalog version and safe linked order history.

Before this can work

  • Choose the Avery Chen dummy account and open its assigned Commercial manager Home without a password or authenticator prompt. This dev-only Home review does not verify MFA or unlock protected staff actions. Use your own provisioned staff account and authenticator when reviewing those actions.
  • HOL must confirm store owner, pricing/catalog publication authority, inventory source, tax/shipping terms and the permitted operator scope before implementation.
  • Use fictional role-preview records. Frontend prototypes may simulate the workflow; no backend implementation or real service operation is authorized.
