User story

As a paid member, I want to follow topics, groups, and places so I can build a relevant return path.

What the app should do

  • Following controls for topics, groups, and places change a visible saved/following view.
  • Use the active Paid member role fixture for member-only actions. A free account or a professional identity does not supply paid access. The review identity is a genuine local account; another account’s checkout state stays separate.
  • Extend the typed following list to approved public organizations from D083 as well as topics, groups and places; a verified free account can follow/unfollow an organization without membership or sponsorship.
  • Following an organization is an interest preference only; it does not subscribe to an external mailing list, join a group or grant access to paid work.

Begin on the paid Member Home. Use the Paid member demo role or Casey Bennett in Try a demo account, then select Member in the account/workspace menu if necessary. This creates a genuine local session with a seeded no-charge test membership; it does not upgrade a different account.

Navigation from sign-in

  1. 01Open the fictional Paid member account through the connected sign-in service. Seeded Home review opens directly. Real HOL staff access and protected actions require an authenticator check.
  2. 02From Member Home use footer Explore → Organizations and open an organization. The feature starts at Follow organization; use Your Following on its page for the return list.

Organization follow and Your Following

Current public pages and supported account links are connected in dev. Only the visible workflow described here is available; credentials, privacy edge cases and unrelated editorial/operator workflows require separate acceptance and remain incomplete.

  1. 03Open North Ridge Outfitters or another published organization and select Follow organization, or Following organization to remove an existing relationship.
  2. 04Select Your Following and reopen the same organization. Reload and compare the retained organization follow, then unfollow and confirm the list changes.
  3. 05Contributor and place follows use their own visible Follow actions. Topic management and a complete consolidated cross-type Following interface remain separate acceptance; organization following does not join a group.

What needs to be supported

  • Store owner/target-type/target-ID organization follows with a uniqueness constraint and owner-scoped read/write; reject missing/unpublished targets and retain a safe unavailable result if a followed page is later withdrawn.

How to verify when implementation is approved

  1. Follow twice, unfollow twice and reload as a verified free account; verify one owner relationship, no cross-account access and no side effect on subscription/group state.
